Churchyard Inscription

The following inscription mentions Richard Miles

Floor of South Aisle: Here is the interned body of Mr Richard Miles of the parish who was remarkably pious just and charitable He built this gallery in the year 1724 for many years in his lifetime he gave to the poor £5-4s-0p per annum in bread, and has left the same as a legacy for ever to twelve poor widows of the parish He died March 28th 1736 in the 64th year of his age "He Hath Dispersed abroad He Hath Given To The Poor His Righteousness Remaineth For Ever" (Cor.II. 9.9) Here also lieth Mary the second wife of Mr Richard Miles who died July 28th 17-2 aged 59 years "She Was A Faithful Wife A Tender Mother And A Useful Neighbour"
