Addendum in 1787

The man found drowned in the river Ouse was discovered to be a journeyman shoemaker belonging to a neighbouring village, owing entirely to the intimate description given of his dress etc. in the Northampton paper.-

Widow Stonton, a pauper belonging to Turvey, Bedfordshire was buried in this parish 26 December. 12 Shillings were due to her of her Weekly Allowance from Turvey when she died which the Overseers for said parish inhumanly kept back …. or rather ungenerously sent ten shillings and six pence to bury her with!

Oh Tempora: Oh 'Mores'!

Particular Memorandum

This year the Church Yard of Hanslope was assessed for the first time to the poor rates, by the express order of one Inhabitant & contrary to the inclination of all the rest - Hard Times! when the common receptacle of the dead of all Descriptions, must be converted to a double purpose serving(?) the living of the dead likewise, mearly to serve the caprice of one man
