In the name of God Amen The six and twentieth day of November Ano Din one thouzand six hundred forty and fowre and in the twentyeth yeare of the raiyne of our most gratious Sovraigne Lord Kinge Charles I Robert Bennett of Hanslopp in the County of Bucks yeoman beinge sick in body yett i perfect memory I give god hearty thankes doe make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge That is to say ffirst I bequeath my Soule into the hands of almighty god my Creator trustinge of salvacon through the merritts and passion of his onely Sonne and my Redeemer Christ Jesus And my body to be buryed at the discrecon of my executor hereafter named And as touchinge my Lands and good which it hath pleased god to blesse mee with I give and bequeath them as followeth that is to say ffirst I give and bequeath to William Bennett my youngest sonne all my Cottage or Tenement in longe streete in Hanslopp aforesaid with the yards orchardes Gardens barnes Outhouses an Thappurtenances to the same belonginge And one Close called Jefferyes Close in longe streete aforesaid and one acre of ley ground lyinge in Wigland field And one roode of meddowe lyinge in longe meade in Hanslopp aforesaid to him his heyres and assignes for ever And as touchinge my Close of pasture ground situate lyinge and beinge in North Crawly in the said Countie of Bucks called Stratnold also Stratnoll I give and bequeath the same with all profitts hereunto belonginge unto my sonne Robert Bennett his heyres and assignes for ever Alsoe I give and bequeath to John Bennett my eldest sonne all that my house or Cottage with Thappurtenances wherein hee nowe dwelleth for and dureinge the naturall life of him the said John Bennett And after his decease then to the use and behoofe of Henry Bennett his sonne his heyres and assignes for ever I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Bennett my eldest daughter tenn pounds of lawfull English money to bee paid within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and bequeath to Anne Bennett my second daughter the summe of tenn pounds of like lawfull English money to bee paid unto her within one yeare next after my decease Alsoe I give and bequeath unto the said Anne my daughter one presse cupboard standinge in the hall of my now house to have and take the same after my death Item I give and bequeath unto Joane Bennett my third daughter tenn pounds of lawfull English money to bee paid unto her within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Alice Bennett my fourth daughter the sume of tenn pounds to bee paid within one yeare next after my decease Alsoe I give more unto my said daughter Alice one holland sheete and a feather boulster. Item I give more to my said daughter Joane my halfe headed bedsteed standinge in my parlour. Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne John Bennett foure pounds of lawfull English money to bee payd him within one yeare after my decease by my said sonne Robert Bennett And my will is that if my sonne Robert shall make default in non payment of the said foure pounds accordinge to this my will That then it shall and may bee Lawfull to and for my said sonne John Bennett to enter and distraine upon the ground called Stratnold also Stratnoll And the distresse or distresses so taken to keepe hould and detaine in his owne proper hands without any replevin untill hee hath receaved the said foure pounds of the said Robert Bennett my sonne his heyres or assignes and noe longer Item I give and bequeath unto Ellen Bennett daughter of my said sonne John Bennett forty shillinges to bee paid her within one yeare after my decease And to her sister Elizabeth I give Twenty shillinges to bee paid unto her at her age of one and Twenty yeares or her day of marriage which shall first happen both the said legacyes to bee paid by my said sonne Robert Bennett. Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Penn my grandchild twenty shillinges Item my will is that Anne Bennett Joane Bennett and Alice Bennett three of said daughters shall continue and inhabit as alwayes they have done in the house wherein they nowe dwell soe longe as they keepe themselves single and unmarryed and noe longer without molestacon of any whomesoever Item my will is that the said foure severall legacyes of tenn pounds bequeathed to my said foure daughters shall bee paid unto them by my said sonne William Bennett And that if hee the said William shall make default in non payment thereof or any parte thereof accordinge to this my last will and Testament That then it shall and may bee lawfull for my said foure daughters or any one of them not beinge fully satisfied theire said legacyes to enter into and upon the said house wherein I now dwell and upon all the profitts and appurtenances thereunto belonging untill they and evry of them shall bee fully satisfyed and payd theire said Legacyes All the rest of my goods and Chattells whatsoever unbequeathed I give and bequeath unto my said sonne William Bennett whome I make my sole executor of this my last wil land Testament not doubtinge but that hee will truely and honestly see this my will performed in all pointes as my trust is in him. And I doe intreat my welbeloved friend Richard Savage of Clifton Reynes in the said County of Bucks Shepherd to bee Overseer of this my last will and Testament that it may be faithfully performed as my intencon was And for his paines therein I give unto him three shillinges foure pence Signed sealed and published as the last will and Testament of the aforenamed Robert Bennett In the presence of Laurence fforster, William Bauldwin, Richard Penn Proved 4th day of February 1645 |
