In the name of God Amen the Tenth day of January Anno Domi 1659 I Thomas Sheffield of Hanslop in the County of Bucks Taylor being sick in Body but of good and perfect Remembrance thanks be to Almighty God do make and set down this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following first I bequeath my Soule to Almighty God my maker trusting to be saved by my Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ and my body to be buried in the Church yard of Hanslop aforesaid and as for my worldly goods I give and bequeath them in manner and forme following Imprimis I give unto Joseph Sheffield my eldest Sonne and to his heirs male the new house with ye Appurtenances but in default of such heirs I give it to Anne his wife after his decease so long as she shall live a widdow and no longer and then to def to Sammuel Sheffield my youngest Sonne and to ffrancis Sheffield my Daughter to be devided betweene them, or if one of them be dead to ye longer liver of them also my will is that Anne Sheffied my Daughter in Law shall not cut downe any Trees growing uppon the premises uppon paine of forfeiting her time in ye said house Item I give unto Sammuel Sheffied my younger Sonne and his heirs for ever the old house wherein I now dwell with ye ground therein belonging paying unto his Sister ffrances Sheffield the sum of eight pound of lawfull mony of England when he comes to ye age of one and Twenty yeares, and allowing her houseroome in the said house so long as she shall live single and unmarried, but if he refuse to pay unto his Sister ffrances Sheffield the aforesaid sum of eight pound I give unto her the third part of the house and ground for her life Also if the said Sammuel Sheffield shall dye without heirs male I give the house to ffrances Sheffield my Daughter she paying unto her brother Joseph Sheffield if then living the sum of Ten pound of lawfull mony of England likewise if the ffrances Sheffield my Daughter chances to Dye unmarried, my will is that her portion be divided between her brothers Joseph and Sammuel if both be then living or else the longer liver is to have the whole As for my household gopods I give two parts to my Daughter ffrances Sheffield and one part to my Sonne Sammuel Sheffield equally divided Also I doe by this my last Will and Testament ordaine and make the aforesaid Sammuel Sheffield my youngest Sonne and ffrances Sheffield my Daughter my whole and sole Executors iontly together of this my last will and Testament And to ye said Sammuel Sheffield and ffrances Sheffield my Executors I doe give and bequeath all my goods and Chattels whatsoever remaining and not mentioned in this my will to see my debts paid and my funerall discharged And I doe intrust and desire John fforster of Hanslop Gent: and Christopher Ellis of Hanslop Yeoman to be my overseers to see this my last will and Testament iustly performed, and I doe utterly renounce all former Wills, Gifts, Grants and all other things whatsoever in witnesse whereof I hereunto put my hand and seal this tenth day of January in ye yeare of our Lord God one Thousand Six hundred fifty and nine The marke of Thomas Sheffield Sealed and delivered in the presence of John fforster ffrancis Willison Proved 20th day of March 1661
