In the Name of God Amen I John Cooke of Bullington End in the parish of Hanslap in the County of Bucks Yeoman being weake and infirm in body but of a sound mind and Memory (praised be God for the same) doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in maner ffollowing (That is to say) ffirst and principally I recomend my Soule and Spirit into the hands of Almighty God my heavenly Father by whome of his Meere and only Grace I trust to be saved and Redeemed into Eternall Rest through the Meritorious passion Resurrection and Ascention of my Ever blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Interred by my Executrix hereafter named and as for my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with all I dispose of the same as followeth Item my mind and Will is that all my debts now due and oweing unto any person or persons whatsoever (except the debt of threescore pounds due from me to Mr Thoms Pearson of Newport upon a certaine Mortgage unto him by me heretofore made) Shall be paid and discharged by my Loveing Wife Martha Cooke and for the enabling her to pay and discharge the same debts I doe give unto my said Wife Martha Cooke all my Goods Chattells  Cattle and personall Estate whastsoever and wheresoever of what Nature or kind soever And further I doe give and devise unto my said Loveing Wife Martha Cooke all that my Close of pasture Ground lyeing and being in Bullington End aforesaid containeing about three Acres (be the same more or less) called or known by the name of  ...motts Close the Ground of Christopher Ellis being on the East West and South parte and the Comon lane there on the North parte thereof and also all those my Nyne Acres and a halfe of Meadow ground dispersedly lyeing and being within  the parish of Castle Thropp in the said County in the Meadows there called or known by the Severall names of ................... and Thrupp Meadow together with all and singular the ffences mounds Trees and Timber  Trees and appurtenances whatsoever unto the same belonging or appurtaineing To have and to hold the said Close of pasture Ground and Nyne Acres and one halfe acre of Meadow Ground  with their appurtenances unto my said Wife Martha Cooke and her heires forever In Trust Nevertheless to be by her sold and the moneys there ariseing to be Imployed in paying and dischargeing such of her debts as herein are before by me approved to be paid by her which my personall Estate will not amount to pay and discharge Item I doe give and devise unto my said Wife Martha Cooke all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Messuages Cottages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever to hold unto my said Wife Martha  and to her Assigns for and dureing her Naturall life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same Messuages Cottages Lands Tenements and hereditaments with their appurtenances unto my Loveing Brother Thomas Cooke and his heires forever provided always upon this condition and my minde and Will is that my said Brother Thomas shall discharge and pay the threescore pounds and Interest due to the said Thomas Pearson as aforesaid and therefrom discharge and save harmless my said Wife Martha Cooke and also upon this further Condition that my said Brother Thomas or his heires doe and shall well and truly pay or Cause to be paid unto my Brother Alexander Cooke the sume of ffifty pounds of Lawfull money of England within one yeare next after my said Wifes decease provided always and my Minde and Will is that in case my said Brother Thomas Cooke or his heires shall neglect or refute to make payment of the severall Sums of money according to the true Intent and meaneing of the Condition above that then in such Case I give and devise the said Messuages and Cottages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever herein before by me devised unto my said Brother Thomas Cooke and his heires unto my said Wife Martha Cooke and her heires forever Charged and Chargeable with the payment of the Several Sumes of three score pounds and ffifty pounds in like manner and according to the Condition above mentioned And I doe hereby Constitute and appoint my said Deare and Loveing Wife Martha Cooke sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and I doe hereby Nominate and appoint my Welbeloved ffriends Thomas Pomfrett of Newport Pagnell in the County of Bucks Gent and John Bayley of Hanslop aforesaid yeoman Overseers of this my Last Will and Testament desireing them to be Aiding and Assissting to my said Wife in the due Execution of this my Will And I doe hereby Revoke all former Wills and Testaments by me anywayes heretofore made or declared In Witness whereof to this my Will consisting in two sheets of paper to each sheet I have sett my hand and Seal this ffourth day of June Anno 1694 John Cooke Signed Sealed published and declared by the said John Cooke for and as his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us and attested in the presence of the Testator by us Christopher Ellis Dorothy Setterbury John Baily T Pomfrett
