In the name of God Amen I Christopher Scriven of Hanslopp in the County of Bucks Mercer being weake in body but of good and perfect memorie blessed bee Almighty god for it doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme ffollowing ffirst I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty god my Creator hopeing through the meritts of Jesus Christ my onely Lord and saviour to bee made partaker of everlasting life and I comitt my Body to the earth to bee buried at the disposall of my Executors heereafter named Item I give to my three Children Henery William and Katherine which I had by my ffirst wife Lettice Ashby the daughter of William Ashby, Twelve pence a peece the same to bee paid unto them by my executors heereafter named within six months after my decease if the same shall bee lawfully demanded Item I give unto John Panter my sonne in law Twelve pence to bee paid unto him likewise within six months after my decease if it bee lawfully demanded And as for and concerning my Three Children Jane Charles and Thomas which I had by Jane my last wife deceased my will and meaneing is that my said sonne Thomas my yougest sonne shall have the summe of tenn pounds when hee shall attaine to the age of ffourteene yeares for the bindeing and putting him forth an Apprentice and tenn pounds more when hee shall attaine to the age of one and Twenty yeares the said severall summes to bee paid unto him by my executors heereafter named at the several and respective tyme before mentioned Item for all the rest of my goods and Chattels undisposed off I doe heerby give unto my executors heereafter named to and for the uses and intents heereafter expressed that is to say that my said daughter Jane and my said sonne Charles shall and may inhabite together in the cottage or Tenement wherein I now live during the terme of seaven yeares after my decease And shall and may have and enioy my little Close or Pightill unto the said Cottage belonging equally betwixt them during the said terme and afterwardes I give the said Cottage and Pightill unto the said Charles and his assignes during the remainder of the terme which I have therein Alsoe my will and meaning is that my said sonne Thomas bee maintayned with meate drinke lodging and apparrell untill hee shall attaine to the age of fourteene yeares out of the remainder of my personall estate undisposed of as aforesaid and my will and meaneing is that my said daughter Jane shall dureing the said terme of seaven yeares before mentioned make use of all the goods in my shopp to the best advantage and improvement of the same to and for the equall benefitt of my said daughter and my said sonne Charles and in case my said daughter shall intermarry with any person before the said terme bee expired then my meaning is that my said daughter shall have an equall part of all my said goods soe improved as aforesaid and of all my other goods undisposed of as aforesaid to bee equally divided betwixt them And I doe heereby make my wellbeloved Nephew Christopher Scriven Maulster and my wellbeloved ffreind Joseph Daukes executors of this my last will and Testament in trust to and for the equall benefitt of my said daughter Jane and my said sonne Charles and to and for the uses and intents and purposes before mentioned and I give to them for theire paines in performance of this my will Two shillings six pence a peice and I doe hereby revoke and renounce all other wills made by me whatsoever In Wittnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the Twenty second day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord god One thousand six hundred ffifty and Nyne Christopher Scriven Signed sealed and published and acknowledged to bee my last will and Testament in the presence of Ralph Bradford the marke of Alice Cockes the marke of Mary Clare Proved 23rd June 1659 |
