In the name of God Amen I Henrie Cotes of Hanslopp in the Countie of Bucks gentleman sicke and weake in bodie yett of perfect remembrance thankes be to Allmightie god, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in writinge in manner and forme followinge     first I give and bequeath to my Creator Redeemer and Sanctifier my soule And my bodie to be buried in the Churchyarde of Hanslopp aforesaide as neere the bodies of my brother Richard Cotes and Anne Cotes as by anie meanes maie be knowen  And this to be donne without anie vaine pompe  Onelie I desire my good freinde Mr Houghton or whoseoever ells shall bury me to meete my Corpse att the place appointed by the  booke of Comon prayer and soe  usinge the wordes in the said Booke menconed, convey my bodie into the Church  And to doe the like from the place where my bodie is sett downe in the church to my grave  Item I doe give and bequeath towardes the repaire of Hanslopp church tenne shillinges  And to the amendment of the heighwaie from the Malt Mill to the Stockhouse end tenne shillinges  And to the poore whose Ancestors  were borne in the towne of Hanslopp twentie shillinges  Item for the better maintenance of Barbara my wief and children and raisinge of porcons for my two daughters ffrances Cotes and Anne Cotes out of my finale estate  And for that the said Barbara hath not benne brought upp in the mannaginge of husbandrie   And because servants growe negligent and careles in their servings for their Masters proffitt  Therefore I doe by this my last will and testament give and bequeath full power and authoritie to the said Barbara my wief  Lawrence fforster and Richard Lane of Hanslopp in the Countie aforesaide gents my brothers in lawe, or to the survivor of them their heires or assinges or aine of them to grannt, sell, Allien enforsse and confirme to anie manner of person or persons and to their heires and assignes for ever  All those my Messuages, Landes, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever I stand seised of, either by de.... from my father Christopher Cotes of Hanslopp aforesaide gentleman deceased, or have purchased or bought of aine whomsoever since or before his death lyinge or beinge in the Countie of Bucks or elswhere in the Realms of England  Togeather with all the Comons proffitts and emolumente to the same belonginge or in anie wise appertayninge to the intent aforesaide and purpose hereafter menconed and expressed  And I doe moreover by this my last will and testament ratifie confirme and allowe whatsoever the land Barbara my wief Lawrence fforster and Richard Lane or the Survivor of them or either of them their heire or assignes shall doe in the premisses to aine purchaser or purchasors and their heires and assignes for ever in as large and ample manner as if I my self in my full lief hadd donne the same  And my full will and meaninge is that all such moneyes as shall be received and hadd for the said premisses or anie part or parcell thereof shall be forthwith (if sufficient suyretie be not given at such times of purchasinge the same by the purchasor or purchasors thereof to my said wief, the said Lawrence fforster and Richard Lane or the Survivor or Survivors of them or either of them or their heires) paid to the said Barbara my wief Lawrence fforster and Richard Lane or to the Survivor or Survivors of them or either of them or their heires to be putt forth and imployed upon good securitie at the ordinairie allowance accordinge to the rate then in use.  And the intreaste thereof cominge and acrewinge to be paid to the said Barbara my wief for the maintenance of her and her said children, the first entringe good securitie to the likinge of my Overseers hereafter named or the Survivor of them or their heires) to performe this my last will and testament  Item I give and bequeath to ffrances Cotes and Anne Cotes my daughters to be paid them at their severall daies of marriage the sume of one hundred and fiftie poundes a peece or good securitie for the same  Provided that they marrie with the consent of their said mother which if they doe not my will is they shall loose their said porcon and the same shalbe divided betweene her other sister and William Cotes their brother  And if both my saide daughters shall marrie without consent of their said mother or die unmarried then both their porcons as unto them become voyde  And their said brother William Cotes to have both their porcons wholie to himself  And if either of my said daughters shalbe lyvinge at the decease of the saide Barbara my wief not havinge benne married their said porcons shalbe paide to them immediatlie  after the death of the saide Barbara  Item I doe likewise will and bequeath that after the death of my saide wief the overplus of the money remayninge upon the sale of the saide landes aforesaide and undisposed of  by this my will shall wholie come and remaine to my said sonne William Cotes his Executors Administrators and assignes   Item I give and bequeath to my saide sonne William Cotes one Mazer bowler with my Armes sett within it and my gould ringe with my Armes graven thereon and my Silver seale with the Anncient Coate of Armes of Cotes 'iuxta Swinnerton in Com Staffordiensis' from whence I am Lineallie descended as by my Pedigree which I have lefte with my wief to be delivered to my sonne as a right belonging unto him maie appeare.  Item I give my said servantes nowe lyvinge theis sumes followinge To John Eaton three shillinges fower pence  To William Johnson  sixe shillinges eight pence  To Joane Wincles sixe shillinges eight pence  To Luce Clarke tenne shillinges  Item I doe give and bequeath to the said Lawrence fforster and Richard Lane which I intreate to be pleased to be my Overseers and to be adyinge and assistinge to my said wief in the sale of my said landes and in the executinge of this my last will, and to accept at a poore yett lovinge brothers  handes the sume of twentie shillinges a peece which by this my last will I give and bequeath freelie unto them.  Item I give and bequeath to the said Barbara my wief all the residue of my goodes and chattells and make her my full and sole Executrix of this my last will and testament  And if it happen anie question or doubt to arise about the exposicon of this my will  Then my will is that Richard Lane of Northton in the Countie of Northton Esquire my assured lovinge freinde shall adiudge and deeme thereof who I assure myself for the love he beareth me will afford his paines herein which god I beseech to requite  And lastlie I doe hereby revoake and make voyd all former wills made heretofore by me whatsoever.  21st May 1628  H Cotes  Signed sealed, delivered published and declared by the said Henrie
