In the name of god Amen: The nineteenth daie of May anno dm. 1630 I John Cowley of Hanslopp in the countie of Bucks: ploughwright being of decrepitt ould age, but of good and perfect memory thanks be to god for it, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme folowinge, that is to saie  ffirst I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of allmightie god my maker and redeemer trustinge of salvation through the death of and meritts of his sonne and my onely saviour Christe Jesus, and my bodie to be buried in the churchyard of Hanslopp aforesaid;  and of all my worldly goods I dispose as followeth:  Imprimis I give and bequeath unto John Cowley my godsonne my sonne Willyam his elldest sonne and to his heires forever all that my howse and croft, or pightell theareunto adioyninge beinge freeholde, which I bought of Peter Rawlins situate lyinge and beinge in longe streete in the parish of Hanslopp aforesaide, whearein Robert Mills the younger now dwelleth; and if it shall happen the said John Cowley my god sonne do decease without yssue; that then my will is, that the said howse and Croft or pightell with the appurtenances to remayne unto Henry Cowley second sonne of my sonne Willyam deceased, the saide Henry payinge out of it the sume of ffortie shillings of lawfull mony of England, unto every one of his brothers or so many of them as shallbe then liveinge within twoe yeares after his entrance uppon it:  Item I give and bequeath unto Christopher Cowley my elldest sonne all my workeinge tooles and all my plough tymber:  Item I give and bequeath unto Margarett Cowley my daughter in lawe my warmeinge panne, and one pewter cupp:  Item I give unto Elizabeth Cowley my daughter in lawe, my best brasse panne, and my best brasse pott and a kettle, and my feather bedd, duringe the tyme of her widowhoode and after to remaine, to the use of John Cowley aforesaide, and allso three blanketts and twoe bouilsters and twoe pillowes, and twoe coffers:  All the residue of my goods and chattells whatsoever heare unbequeathed, I give and bequeath unto John Cowley my godsonne aforesaid, whome I make and ordaine my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament payinge my debts and dischardging my funerall and other chardges:  moreover I doe appoint Hugh Brice my overseer giveing him for his paines xii pence  Witnesses heareunto beinge sealed and delivered in the presence of us John Kittens  Thomas Kingston Christopher Cotes
