In the name of God Amen the twelve day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord God according to the English Accomptation one thousand six hundred fifty and two I Stephen Gautherne of Hanslopp in the County of Bucks yeoman being sick in bodie but of goode and perfect memory thankes be to Allmighty God and calling to remembrance the incertaine Estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please God to call doe make constitute ordayne and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following revoaking and annulling by these present all and every Testament and Testaments will and wills heretofore by mee made and declare either by word or by writeing and this only to be taken for my last will and Testament  and none other and first being repentent and sorry from the bottom of  my harte for my sinnes past most humbly desyreing forgivenesse for the same I give and committ my soule unto Allmighty God my saviour and Redeemer in whome and by the meritts of Jesus Christ  I trust and beleeve assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and forgivenesse of all my sinnes and that my soule with my bodie at the generall day or resurrection shall rise againe with ioye and through  the meritts of Christs death and passion possesse and inheritt the Kindome of heaven prepared for his elect and Chosen And my body to be buried in  such place where it shall please my Executors hereafter named to appoint  And now for settleinge of my temporall Estate and such lands goods and chattells with my debts as it hath pleased God farr above my deserts to bestowe upon mee doe ordayne and dispose the same in manner and forme following that is to saye  ffirst I will that these debts and duties as I owe in right or conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoeve shall be well and truely contented and paid or ordayned to be paid by my Executors hereafter named within convenient tyme after my decease And as for my Messuages Tenements or dwelling house wherein I live with the Mott Close thereunto adioyneing with all and singular their and every of their rights members and appurtenances I doe hereby give and devise  unto my loving wife Hellen Gautherne to have hold occupie and quietly enioye the same dureing the terme and tyme of her naturall life (if shee shall keepe herselfe sole and unmarried, but if in case shee shall happen to marrye then my will and meneing is that shee shall have hold and enioye the premisses with the rights members and appurtenances but untill my sonne Stephen Gautherne shall attayne and come to his age of one and twenty yeares if in case hee shall happen to dye before hee come to his age of one and twenty yeares, then untill my sonne Thomas Gautherne shall come to his age of one and twenty yeares And then the sayd Messuages Tenements or dwelling house, Close and singular the premises with the rights members and appurtenances to remayne and be unto my sonne Stephen and the heyres of his body lawfully to be begotten  And for want of such heyres then to the use and behoofe of my sonne Thomas Gautherne and his heyeres for ever  Item I doe give and bequeath unto Hellen my wife for and during all the rest and residue of my terme and tyme to come of my Lease of Mantells seart Mayds seart and Kettlebush(?) seart lyeing and being in the parish of Pidington in the County of Northampton the yearely summe of fower pounds of lawfull English money  Item further I doe give and bequeath unto my sayd wife fower pounds a yeare more for and during the terme and tyme of my foresayd Lease of Mantells S(?) but as for the last foure pounds yearely my will and meaninge is the first payment thereof not to begin untill Michaclmas day being the nyne and twentieth day of September one thousand six hundred and fifty and five the sayd money to be paid yearely by my Executor hereafter named  Item I give and bequeath unto my sayd Wife Hellen my five Cowes and all  manner of household stuffe and household goods utensells and my three weaneing calves and all my wood and stoanes in my yarde or lyeing on the waste ground neere my house  Item I give unto my three daughters Elizabeth Brice Theodosia Chapman and Anne Allybeare five shillings a peece  Item I give and bequeath unto my sayd two sonnes Stephen and Thomas all and singular my leases if what nature or kindsoever and all rightfulle interest property clayme demannd terme and tyme to come in them or any of them whatsoever equally to be devided betwixt them provided allwaise that those who have any tye or Mortgage upon them upon or any of them as likewise the sayd two severall summes of fower pounds a yeare respectively to be first paid out of the Rents issue and profitts of my sayd leases or some or one of them Item all the rest of my goods and Chattells ready money and debts I doe give and bequeath unto Hellen my wife and Thomas Gauthern of Grendon in the County of Northampton whome I doe make ioynte Executors of this my last will and Testament to then hand ........  (my sayd children being left younge) to be imployed by them or some or one of them in their discretion for the use and benefitt and behoofe of my sayd two children as well as my sayd leases and the profitts thereof  And for the execution  of this my will I doe desyress my loving friends Mr John Bryand and Henry Newman Overseers hereof whome I desyre to be asssistant aydeinmg and helpeing to my Executors afoursayd  wittnes I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written  ...... That if both my sonnes dye before they shall come to their ages of one and twenty yeares respectively then my mynde is that all my legacies before bequeathed to them shalbe and remayne unto my sayd wife and my sayd three daughters equally to be devided betwixt them foure And if either one of my sonnes dye the other survivinge shall have both their legacies  I give to my sonne Stephen my Gunns  The marke of Stephen Gautherne Sealed signed and published in the presence of Robert Penny  The marke of John Pennett John fforty
