In the name of God Amen the third day of October according to computation of the Church of England 1691 I John Scriven of Hanslapp in the County of Bucks yeoman being of perfect Memory and Remembrance praise be God for it doe make and Ordaine this may Last Will and Testament in maner and fforme ffollowing annulling and Revokeing all other Will or Wills by me formerly made ffirst I bequeath my Soule to God that gave it hopeing that through the Merittorious Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer to receive free pardon for all my Sins and as for my Body to be Buryed in Christian buryial at the discretion of my Executors hereafter Nominated I give to my Sonn Henry Scriven the sume of One Shilling also I give to my Sonn Robert Scriven the Sume of sixscore pounds to be paid him at the age of one and Twenty yeares or within one yeare after my decease and also one score of sheepe if there be soe many at that time and all the rest if there remaine any to Margaret my  Loveing Wife and alsoe I give to my Sonn Robert the bedstead that I lye on and Good Bedding sufficiently furnished to it alsoe my chest and as much Household Goods as may conveniently be spared Alsoe I give to my Sonn in Law Luke Parrat a Bond of his which is in my hand of  20?  and to his Wife Elizabeth Parratt my Daughter the sume of five pounds to be paid to her within one yeare after my decease And also I give to my daughter Jane Barton the Wife of William Barton one shilling also my Will is that her Sonn               Brafield which shee had by Richard Brafield her former husband shall be brought up by my Executors or the longer liver of them and educated in Learning and when he is at age and able then to be sett to a Trade And I do nominate and appoint my Loveing Wife Margarett Scriven and my Sonn John Scriven to be my Executors and they to pay all my lawfull debts and funerall charges and also my Will is that my Wife and my Sonn John shall parte the stock equally between them excepting the sheepe and Goods already disposed and my Will is that my Sonn John shall enter on halfe the Land at my decease and the other halfe at his Mothers decease and furthmore I doe will and declare that if my Sonn John Scriven shall chance to dye with out heires then I doe nominate and Appoint my Sonn Robert Scriven to be my heire and to sucseed his brother John as heir to the whole Estate And alsoe I doe desire my Loveing Brother Thomas Read of Moulsoe and my cousin Robert Abram of Stoake to be the overseers of this my Will and they to do the best they can to parte the stock equally between my Sonn and my Wife and they to have for their paines Tenn shillings apeice In Witness whereof I the aforesaid John Scriven doe sett my hand and seal the day and yeare first above written John Scriven Sealed and delivered in the presence of Charles Price the marke of Elizabeth Garner John Lee
