In the name of god Amen the xxiii th daye of ffebruary Anno dm 1598 in the one and fortyth yeare of the Reign of our Sovereygne ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god Queene of England ffrannce and Ireland defendor of the fayth etc  I John Barbar keeper of Hanslopp park in the county of Bucks yeoman being diseased in my bodye but of good and p[er]fitt Remembrance thanks be to god doe ordayne and make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge, ffirst I comitt my Soule to Almighti god hopinge to be saved by the death and passion of my lord and saviour Jhesus Christe, and my bodye to be buryed in the churche of Hanslop aforesayd  also I geve to the mother churche of lincolne iiij d, also I geve and bequeath to Robert Barbar my sonne fowre kine to be assigned and delivered to  him by Joane my wife,  And to him more two  bulloks of two yeares ould, and also two other bulloks of a yeare ould to be assigned him and delivered by my sayd wife more  I geve and bequeath to my sonne Robert five marks of lawfull English monye to be payd him within one yeare next after my decease, also I geve to Lawrence Mabely the sonne of John Mabley one he[r]iford bulloke to be assigned and delivered him by my sayd wife, and more I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Mabley the sayd John Mableys Daughter one weaninge calfe at my sayd wives appoyntment,  Also I geve to Agnes Cornishe  my wifes kinswoman one other weaninge calfe to be delivered her by my sayd wifes apponytment,  Also I geve and bequeath to Thomas Mowlder the younger one yearlinge bulloke at my sayd wifes appoyntment,  furthermore I geve and bequeath to my sonne Robert Barbar and to Thomas Barbar my sonne the one halfe parte of all my howseold stuffe after my sayd wives decease and not before equallye to be devided betweene them,  And the other halfe parte of all my howseold stuffe I doe geve and bequeath soleye to Joane my sayd wife to be disposed at her appoyntment,  The rest of my goods and cattels movable and unmovable not bequeathed as is aforesayd , I geve and bequeath to Joane my sayd wife  And to Thomas Barbar my sayd sonne whom I doe make Jointly my Executors of this my last will and Testament  And they bothe to see my debts payd and my funerall discharged,  In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the daye and yeare above written before thes witnesses hear under named  John Mabley  William Barbar  Rowland Hill
