In the name of God amen, May the Seventeenth Anno Dom, One thousand Six hundred and eightie I Thomas Smyth of Hanslop in the Countie of Bucks Yeoman being weake and unhealthy in body but of a sound and good memory (praysed be God) nulling and making voyd all former Wills and Testaments whatsoever by me made Doe make constitute and ordaine my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Viz. I give and devise to my Daughter Jane Smyth All my house messuage or tenement wherein I now live with the homesteed grounds and all other the appurtenances thereunto belonging to her and her heires sowever (The said house and homesteed being lately purchased of Stephen Gauderne) Item I give and devise to my said Daughter Jane Smyth all my Pightle or piece of ground called Hobshand with the appurtenances lately purchased of William Johnson and lying in Hungate end in the said parish of Hanslop to her and her heires forever Item I give and devise to my said Daughter Jane Smyth One acre of land be it more less lying in a place called Embers land in the said parish of Hanslop with the appurtenances (Lately purchased of Thomas Hollis) to her and her heires for ever Item I give and bequeath to my Sonne in Law Nicholas Church Twenty pounds to be paid within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my Sonne in Law Thomas Brice ffive pounds to be paid within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my Grand child Jane Church ffive pounds Item I give and bequeath to the said Thomas Brice his four Children my Grand Children now in being and to my Grand child Thomas Church Twentie Shillings apiece to be paid to every of my said Grandchildren as they shall attain to one and twenty years of age And alsoe my will and mind is that for many of my grandchildren my Executrix shall be acquitted from the payment of soe many of the said Legacies And alsoe my will and mind is that if my said Sonne in Law Nicholas Church shall not remove himselfe and his wife and children out of my house wherein they now dwell into some other place to in habit before the twenty fifth day of March next coming after the Date hereof that showing Executrix shall not pay to him the said twentie pound herein bequeathed Item I do make constitute and ordaine my said Daughter Jane Smyth my Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament And alsoe doe give and bequeath to Jane my said Executrix all my goods and Chattells herein undisposed the discharging my funerall Charges and paying my debts and Legacies I doe alsoe appoynt John Butcher Alexander Sybthorp my Kinsman and Thomas Brice my Sonne in Law Overseers of this my last will In wittness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the day and year first above written The mark of Thomas Smyth Published sealed and signed in the presence of Henry ffarrow The mark of Alexander Sybthorp John Jeffery
