In the name of god Amen: The iiij th daie of Aprill in the yeare of our lord god 1616: I Thomas Ellis of Hansloppe, within the countie of Bucks: beinge sicke in my bodie, but of perfect remembrance, thankes be to allmightie god, doe make and ordaine, this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge: viz: First I bequeath my soule into the handes of allmightie god my maker and to his sonne Jesus Christe my onely saviour and redeemer, trustinge to be saved by his righteousnes, and merittes and expectinge a glorious resurrection: Item I bequeath unto Thomas Ellis my sonne 5 pounds of lawfull mony of Englande, to be paide to him my said sonne within twoe yeares next ymmediately after my decease. Item I give unto John Ellis my sonne tenn pounds of like lawfull mony to be paide to him within one yeare after my decease. Item I give unto Richard Ellis my sonne 5 pounds to be paide to him within three yeares next after my decease: Item I bequeath unto my daughter Mary Smythe xx shillings: Item I give unto every one of my grandchilldren xij d a peece: Item I give unto Joane Reade my maide servant iij shillings: Item I give to every one of my godchilldren xij d: Item I give unto the poorest people of Hanslopp aforesaide x s All the rest of my goodes unbequeathed my debtes beinge paide, and my funerall dischardged, I give and bequeath unto Agnes Ellis my wife whome I make my full and whole executor of this my laste will and testament; likewise my will is, that if it happen, that any of my foresaide sonnes shall departe this life, before theire portions shallbe due and payable, that then my will is, that his portion so deceased shall goe to the rest of them then livinge; and I doe appointe Marke Travell and John Cooke, to be my overseers of this my will and testament; these beinge witnesses by me required Marke Travell John Cooke and Rafe Smythe
