In the name of God almightie Amen on the eight day of January in the yeare of our lord god one thousand six hundred fortie and nine I Joan Ellis of Hanslapp in the County of Bucks widdowe beinge sicke and weake in body but of sound and p[er]fect memorye thankes bee given to god doe oraine and make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge  Imprimis I comend my soule into the hands of god my Creator and most mercifull Redeemer  And my body to be buryed in the churchyard of Hanslopp as near may bee to the grave of my welbeloved husband lately deceased in sure and certaine hope of resurrection to eternall life through the merritts of Jesus Christ my blessed Lord and Saviour and for my worldly goods I thus dispose of them  Imprimis  I give to my daughter Elizabeth my two beasts one house and all my household stuffe and lumber and as expressed in the Inventory of those goods which my late husband lefte mee,  Item I devise grant and put into the hands of my welbeloved sonne William Ellis my lands and Tenements namely the howse which Widdowe Bunch and her sonne Thomas live in with the yard and orchard belonginge to it six butts of arrable land lying against the orchard in Breach field a quick hedge with a peece of arrable lande lyinge next the hedge in a field called the beane field a quick hedge with a peece of arrable lande beinge betweene the hedge and the foote path balke in a field called the pale Corner and the hookes lyinge at the bottom of the said pale Corner with a peece of Leyes lyinge alonge by the parke fields, .......     lands I pay with the appurtenances I demise and grannt to my sayd sonne William to have and to hold hereafter my decease for ever.  In consideracon of which demise and grannt the sayd William shall discharge satisfye and pay all my debtes and all such legacyes as my late husband bequeathed to his children, my funerall rightes and charges and what overplus of worth and value is left of he pay and lands and commons my sayd sonne William shall faythfully and truely without fraude or deceite give it to my sonne Thomas if hee will bestow himselfe in marriage with  he likinge a consent of my sayd sonne William and my daughter Mary  And of this my last will and Testament I make my sonne William sole executor and this I declare to bee my last will and Testament  In wittnes whereof I have sett to my hand the day and yeare above written  Joane Ellis  her marke   In the presence of Gilbert Newton  Robert Travell
