In the name of god Amen  The xth daie of October and in the yeare of our lord god 1615: I Richard Pettie of Hanslapp within the countie of Bucks:  beinge sicke in bodie but of good remembrance thankes be to allmightie god, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge viz:  I bequeath my soule to allmightie god my maker trusting to be saved by the righteousness of Jesus Christe my saviour and redeemer, and my bodie to christian buriall, hopinge for a glorious resurrection:  Item I bequeath to the mother Church of Lincoln ijd  Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Pettie my sonne my redd white backed cowe.  Item I give unto Lettice Swepsonne my daughter 5 s of currant English mony:  Item I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Bartrum v s of like lawfull mony: Item I give unto my grandchilldren three of the chilldren of John Pettie my sonne Henry Pettie, Lucie and Lettice, my lesser black cowe amongest them equallie to be devided:  Item I give to my grandchilldren foure of the chilldren of John Swepsonne, that is to saie John, Richard, Willyam and Mary Swepsonne, my greate blacke cowe equallie to be devided amongest them: Item I give unto Jane Roper my grandchilde on ewe sheepe.  Item I give unto my grandchilde Margarett Roper on ewe sheepe:  Item give and bequeath to my grandchilldren, George, Roger, John and Lawrence Bartrum one ewe sheepe amongest them:  Item I give unto my granchilde Lettice Pettie on ewe hoggeril;  Item I give unto Henry Pettie my grandchilde my ould dry trough and a table:  Item I give unto my brother John Pettie a bushell of barley and all my wearinge apparell.  Item I give unto Alice Drury x s of currant englishe mony:  Item I give unto the poorest people of the parish of Hanslopp iij s iiij d  All the rest of my goodes unbequeathed, my debtes beinge paide, and my funeralle dischardged I give unto my two sonnes John and Thomas Pettie, whome I make my full, and whole executors of this my last will and testament: and I do appoint Thomas fforster, and Alexander Braifelde to be my overseers of this my last will, these beinge witnesses by me required Thomas fforster - Alexander Braifeilde
