Relationship between an entry
and the head of household - Key
The data on each page presents information for each surname entry in the following order:

Surname, forename, age, house number, street name, relationship to head of household, occupation, place and county of birth.

The data is also grouped into households to indicates all the persons residing at the head of householder's address. This format has necessarily resulted in some duplication of entries. All duplicated entries within households are shown in italics.

Surname entries at a residential address that do not include the head of household, have a reference to the head of household where the complete household information can be found. These references, in italics, are to be found in the 'occupation' column.

With regard to identifying an entry's county of origin, the Chapman Code has been adopted in the main which is considered to be largely self explanatory. Also, for the relationship of an entry to the head of household, abbreviations have been used which are similar to those used by the Buckinghamshire Family History Society. The key to the abbreviations adopted for this census can be found through the link in the above table.

It should be noted that, for some entries, the occupation data has been necessarily truncated to fit this web format. It should also be noted that because of the nature of census records, no responsibility can be accepted for errors or omissions. Copies of the original census tabulations, in microfiche format, are available at Milton Keynes Central Library.
