This ODHS website features a major article on the business of JW & E Sowmans. The article provides an insight into business from the late 1880's, when it was essentially an ironmongers, to the late 1930's, when it had extended into a comprehensive emporium, having added a radio shop, a garage, an agricultural machinery workshop and several other related businesses. A glimpse of the Olney Sowmans' family life is also provided through the provision of many family photographs.
