The Pest House used to stand on Wood End Lane (Forest Road) and was used to isolate people with contagious diseases.

In the survey of 1779 the land and cottage on this site are shown as part of the estate of Edward Watts, and let to William Crick who was farming the adjoining fields.

In the survey of 1910, the property was still part of the Watts estate, but was no longer let with the adjoining land.  So the tenant, Harvey Allen, was probably living there.

The Old Pest House stood on a strip of land along the south side of Forest Road, formerly known as Wood End Lane. No sign remains of the site which has been incorporated into the adjoining field. The strip of land began where the verge narrows in this photograph looking East along Forest Road, a little beyond the point where the 40 mph sign was recently erected.
