The building was listed in 1984 with listing particulars as follows.

SP 84 NW HANSLOPE MARKET SQUARE 4/85 No. 2 (Stafford House) - GV II House. C17 altered. 2 storeys and attic. Coursed rubblestone. Coped gables ends. Modern interlocking tile roof. Flanking stacks, left hand one corbelled out at 1st floor. 4 small 2-light swept dormers. 3 bays of triple casements, doorway and one light casement between on ground floor. Timber lintel. Back has projecting 2 bays, 2 storey rubblestone wing. At rear of main block is C17 stack in stone with 2 diagonal brick shafts. RCHM II 137 MON 8.
