The map of 1900 appears to show three houses here. Old residents can only remember two. There are now a pair of symmetrical cottages resulting from conversion of an outbuilding in the early 19th century. The earlier building is probably of the late 17th or early 18th century date. Well into the 20th Century, these houses were approached from High Street via a long path that ran between the gardens of the houses. These gardens are now part of the Cock Inn, and the two remaining houses have been changed so that their main entrance is on Gold Street. These buildings were listed in 1984: SP 84 NW HANSLOPE HIGH STREET (east side) 4/81 Nos. 37 and 39 - - II Pair of cottages. C18. Coursed rubblestone and thatch. Each of 2 bays and 2 storeys. Central doors. To north east (Gold Street elevation) with modern hoods, No. 37 thatched. No. 39 tiled. 2 light casements above and between doors. 3-light leaded casements to south west elevation. End and party wall stacks.
