This building was burnt down, probably early in the 20th century. It stood just to the south of what is now called Brookside, with a gable end on the street side. |
Tathall End looking south. The house which is the subject of this page is the second building on the left , with gable end onto the road.
This photograph was taken by Stan Platten, and is believed to date from 1900 or a little earlier.

In April 2009, showing that the building is no longer standing.
It is said that the house was struck by lightening and caught fire fairly early in the 20th century. Harry Geary bicycled into Newport Pagnell to alert the fire brigade. By the time they arrived, the house had burnt down. As the house belonged to the Watts family, someone went to Hanslope Park to alert them. The reaction of Mrs Watts was to hope that Harry Geary would pay for the fire brigade (source: story passed on by Edward Geary in 1980s).
