In 1900 there were two houses on Market Square between Gold Street and the Green Man. This was the house closest to Gold Street.

Both these houses were still standing in 1935, but have since been demolished.

The building to the right in the photograph is the Green Man. This page relates to the leftmost of the two cottages to the left of the Green Man.

This view of the Swan in from the Newport Road junction with Gold Street appears to show the back of the two cotages between the Green Man and Gold Street beyond and to the right of the Swan. The cottage referred to here would be to the extreme right of the photograph.
